100th Day!

As we come to the end of January and see February on the horizon, we also approach the 100th day of school. ONE HUNDRED DAYS. Congratulations! This can be a fun milestone to acknowledge in your classroom and below are some easy ways to integrate technology to celebrate. 



When I’m 100 years Old in WeVideo:

Students will use WeVideo (or Wixie) to record themselves talking about what they hope for themselves when they are 100 years old. They can use text boxes, images, and music to showcase their hopes and dreams for the future. Optionally, students can dress up and speak as themselves from the future!



When I am 100 in Wixie:

For little learners, consider using Wixie where students write a sentence about when they will be 100 years old. Have them use the paint tools to create a picture about the sentence. Teach them to use the Microphone tool to make a recording of the sentence.



Biden’s First 100 Days in Nearpod:

Based on FDR’s idea to measure a presidency’s success, this lesson focuses on BIden’s accomplishments during his initial 100 days in office. Students watch videos and read an article to learn about the history behind this measure of success. They reflect on policies that will have the most impact on their community through polling and open -ended questions.

1920s vs. Today in Lumio:

Students will learn about the clothing, movies, and industry innovations of the 1920s. They will compare and contrast then and now, 100 years later with various activities requiring them to sort, give short answer responses, and shout-it out.



Comparing numbers 0-100 in Wixie: 

This allows students to make decisions about the value of one and two digit numbers. This activity can be extended to asking students to represent the amounts using the place value block stickers, or using their own drawings. They can even use the physical blocks in the classroom, and snap a picture or take a video of themselves explaining how they know a number is greater than, less than, or equal to. 




Teacher Resource: 100th Day Digital Library:

This Google Slides resource from Ms. M’s Teaching Resources has over 20 books for use in the classroom and 6 brain breaks related to the 100th day. Consider following this up with an activity in Wixie such as a comprehension choice board or retelling in a comic strip.

Who to Follow on Social Media
